Guest guest
Dear all, I have a puja-question: in the enhanced Shiva puja, we offer a sacred thread. There is something in the text which puzzles me, so perhaps one of you with more sacred thread knowledge could help me? The text is: 'Om the sacred thread of the highest purity is given by Prajapati, the Lord of Creation, for the greatest facility'. Now, what does 'the greatest facility' refer to? Is it the facility to perform the nine activities (the nine threads, I presume) mentioned in the next verse? And why is it said that the Lord of Creation gives the thread? Is it because it means we already have all we need to manifest the qualities described because we share in Universal Life? And another thing: could these activities (in the verse beginning with 'shamo')be arranged thus; first three - tamas, second three - rajas and last three - sattva? (And perhaps within each group, we can also make the same distinction in threes, something like tamas of tamas, rajas of tamas etc.?)Or am I barking up the wrong t(h)ree? I just had to ask, because everytime I recite this text, my mind wanders off and I lose the thread of the puja, your consideration will be greatly appreciated, with love, Henny
