Guest guest
It is true, I have never been sorry I did this Sankalpa. What do we get from this? Two of the best things I learned from Swamiji -- one is the idea of the sankalpa, or vow, or commitment, to perform a spiritual act. The other is regular practice. Both these ideas serve to bond our spiritual life into our daily life. We no longer are thinking about spiritual life, imagining it ... we are singing to God with this mantra, to the Self, to the All. In the process, the mind is becoming purified; the clouds are pulling back; we are looking past our worries and anxieties. The mind has a lot of energy and persistence; therefore we have to be just a little more persistent. I don't even think about, am I helping anyone. I don't expect to become perfect. I just do the mantra, and let the mantra do the work. Its easy this way, resting on the shoulders of the Guru. However, we do have to climb up there to enjoy the view, and enjoy the bliss that is indeed Ours. SoHam.
