I read the posts on this topic. My first inclination was that for me this means to be true to one's Self. Ultimately we are the judge of our own actions. If I cannot respect my actions I am not likely to continue in the same vain. It is hard to act out of dharma consciously, hard to live with oneself. Upon further reflection, I remembered that when working with tools or other equiptment or other things or animals that can cause harm, we say, "treat it with respect".
