If you are pressed for time and cannot chant the Guru Gita here is a prayer that can be offered - "Guru Puja worship of the guru akhandamandalakaram vyaptam yena caracaram tatpadam darsitam yena tasmai srigurave namah The Guru shows the universality of the entire creation, which is distinguished by movable and immovable objects. Therefore we bow down to the Respected Guru. dhyanamulam gurormurtih pujamulam guroh padam mantramulam gurorvakyam moksamulam guroh krpa The root of meditation is the image of the Guru; the root of worship is at the feet of the Guru the root of mantra is the word of the Guru; the root of self-realization is the Grace of the Guru. gurur brahma guruvishnuh, gurudevo mahevarah gurusakat param brahma tasmai srigurave namah The Guru (Dispeller of Darkness) is Brahma, Creative Consciousness; The Guru (Dispeller of Darkness) is Visnu, All-Pervading Consciousness; The Guru (Dispeller of Darkness) is the Lord Mahesvara, the Great Seer of All, or Great Ruler of All. The Guru is indeed the Supreme Deity, and therefore we bow down to the Respected Guru. ete gandhapuspe om sri gurave namah With these scented flowers we bow to the Respected Guru."
