Dear Beloved Brothers and Sisters,

Blessings of peace and divine spirit to all!

Here is a brief summary of our east meets west xmas eve

satsang.

The evening began with an offering to the Guru by reciting the

Guru Gita. Swamiji likened Jesus to the Guru since both perform

the same functions of taking away darkness and illuminating the

light within. Swamiji defined the word Christ in sanskrit(kristo) as

meaning:

ka-the cause, ra-to see again, ishta-the beloved. Kristo means

the cause of the beloved to appear again within ourselves.

After the Guru Gita we all joined in reciting the beginner Shiva

puja with offerings to Jesus which is the same Jesus on the

home page that Shree Maa made herself many years ago. By the

way, this is one of the only images of Jesus that I have seen in

which he is not frowning.

Arati was performed next and then Swamiji did his special Latin

mass in Latin.

We are so lucky to have a Swamiji who is so versatile in so many

different traditions and languages. He and Shree Maa really

emphasize that there is only one true existence, one

consciousness, and one Supreme Divinity which runs

throughout this creation.

The evening continued on with Christmas carols and some

Bengali and Sanskrit songs devoted to Jesus written by Shree

Maa. Then Shree Maa asked some individuals to sing and our

very own Nandaji chimed in with a song devoted to Chandi sung

to the tune of Jungle Bells. Lots of laughter rang out from this

song.

The evening ended with the song "We Wish You a Merry

Christmas" and leave it to Annapurna Maa to offer figgy pudding

to all of her children just like the song says: "We all want some

figgy pudding, we all want some figgy pudding, we all want some

figgy pudding so bring it right here...."

And then a little advice from Shree Maa to all of her children:

"Please pray for this universe."

God bless you all!

Beloved Parvatiji, Jai Maa!

Thank-you so much for sharing with us all the activities that occured

at the Mandir Christmas Eve! As usual, you have really captured the

beauty and devotional bhava of that glorious night! i am so grateful

to you for painting such a vivid picture; it feels as though you

painted the scene and then performed "Prana Pratishta"! :<) It must

be truly awe inspiring to experience our Swamiji performing a Latin

Mass!

i would love to have the words to the Chandi version of Jingle Bells.

Picturing our Nandaji singing it with joyful abandon is a very sweet

picture. i feel like i have a sweet, warm glow in my heart, Thank-you

again, dear sister, for taking the time to share with us and

transporting Christmas Eve at the Devi Mandir into our hearts and

homes! Happiest of Holy Days to you!

Jai Maa! Jai Swamiji! Jai Thakur Ramakrishna Deva!

Jai Chandi, Jai Jai, Nandaji! :<)

The trick is finding the Rhythm; once you do that, it is really a

whole lot of fun to chant, and it makes me giggle, also, which is

wonderful. Joyous Divine Laughter is one of our greatest weapons to

dissolve the demons of negativity. :<)

Jai Chandi Shree Maa! Jai Shiva Swamiji! Jai Thakur Ramakrishna Deva!

bells tune. The refrain works out ok, but the verses themselves dont

really fit in so very well. I had to sing the words as quickly as

possible so as not to lose the tune. As a result, when I sang the

verse, most people were busy trying to figure out what I was singing,

but they all got the refrain part.
