Guest guest
Here are a few miscellaneous questions about puja that I hope someone might answer. In the Beginner Shiva Puja Workbook document in the files section of the forum, it says "Prana Pratishtha has no bearing on our beginner puja." Is prana pratishtha left out just to make the puja simple for beginners or is it left out for some other reason? Thinking of the five components of puja (preparation, purification, invitation, offering, union), would prana pratishtha be considered part of invitation? Is the beginner Shiva puja a complete puja because, even without prana pratishtha, it does include all five components? The Beginner Shiva Puja Workbook refers to the puja's fourth verse (om bhur bhuvah svah ...) as a gayatri mantra. This verse seems to have more than 24 syllables, but don't gayatri mantras typically have 24 syllables? As we work through the various pujas (Shiva, Durga, Hanuman, ...), is the idea that we will add new deities to the altar (without replacing or removing existing deities) as we take up the practice of the new pujas?
