Guest guest
Dear Karen, I just finished my MM mantra chanting as part of this Saturday's sankalpa for the prayer club, and once again I thank you sincerely for your wonderful, patient coordination for over a year now. While I thank you for giving us two options - the Simple and the Full(expanded) sankalpa, I would like to write a few words about my favorite option. I guess I am an ol fashioned gal - I like to know whom I am praying for, and why I am praying for them. Is it because they physically ill (Baby Maya in my list), are they undergoing difficulties (MaryBeth and Randy Koons, for them to realize who they really are and return to their love for each other mangalartham cha (Linda's list)), or they just need extra blessings (Ruchi's list - Kartiki and Tapur Mehrotra and Kuhu Khanna to grow up with love, peace, and happiness around them mangalartham cha) or something more cryptic (for those thought of as enemies - Lieve Henny's list) Yes, some of the requests invoke a warm chuckle (who can forget Vince and Muktimaa's furry four legged friends) and sympathy (will power - Bharat Patel's list) All in all, to me the list is not just a list of names, but rather the personal prayers of all my friends on this group, and that makes it special for me... It is not "Thunder, Lightning, Shanti, Toonces, and Tiger" but MY friend Muktimaa's "Thunder, Lightning, Shanti, Toonces, and Tiger", not just Annie but someone very special to MY friend Henny, not just Jevon but MY friend Kalia's son ... and I practically KNOW Manoj's family by name now (How is Uncle Achu these days ?) So you see, I LOVE the old fashioned Full Sankalpa !!!!! Some of my friends here are probably much busier than I and would settle for the simple one, but I'll take the Full one Maa(m)!!! Dear Nanda, Not sure if this is correct but someone said a time ago that knowing the ailment makes the one offering the prayer think too much on the body with its limitations of sickness and so on and not on the soul which is able to send forth the necessary healing. Like your post though. Jai Maa Kalia
Guest guest
Dear family, I'd like to say something about the Prayer Club sankalpa: When I first joined Prayer Club, I was taken a little aback by the list of names and the sometimes very specific things we were asked to pray for, as I felt out Divine Mother/Father knows what we are in need of and needed no reminding. But now I can also see an other side to this: when we read the name of someone we know (indirectly through our friends) and read out their needs, I think we connect in a special way as human beings and fellow travellers. At least for me, it has been very moving at times to realize how we are all struggling with the same things, not matter where we live or how old we are etc. Recognizing someone else's pain, we are able to go and stand beside them in that situation and lift them up by our prayer into the consciousness that 'all will be well, all will be well, and all manner of things will be well'. So I agree with Kalia, who said that perhaps we should not dwell on problems and ailments of the body too much, but I also think that we can connect with our brothers and sisters at that point and pray not so much for them, but with them (or rather: we are the instrument of their prayer, if you get my drift). Anyway, I am glad Karen has taken the trouble to provide us with the option. Sometimes we will take the full sankalpa, sometimes the shorter version. I'm sure it makes no difference to the Lord of Compassion who hears our prayers even before we have said them, with love, Henny -- In , "kaliananda_saraswati" <kaliananda_saraswati> wrote: > > , "Nanda" <chandimaakijai> wrote: > > > I guess I am an ol fashioned gal - I like to know whom I am praying > for, and why I am praying for them. > > Is it because they physically ill ...... > > Dear Nanda, > > Not sure if this is correct but someone said a time ago that knowing > the ailment makes the one offering the prayer think too much on the > body with its limitations of sickness and so on and not on the soul > which is able to send forth the necessary healing. > > Like your post though. > > Jai Maa > > Kalia >

Guest guest
Blessing All, I don't think the long or the short sankalpa should be a debate. It is a choice and a choice that should be a private matter for each individual. I think having the choice is a good thing. Having the option for the long or the short sankalpa, might appeal to more of the members, therefore creating an atmospere that more people are involved and want to take part in prayer club. Members involved and praying is a good thing. This is the point of prayer club, right? Angelina
Guest guest
Hi Angelina, Thank you - you are correct, it is not a debate but a private choice for each individual . IMHO, prayer is a conversation between us and God, and we choose to talk to him the way we want, and what we want and how we want. Again IMHO, I think the most important part is that we DO talk to him/her. It is nice to hear our friends opinions on how they talk to God - and most importantly it is nice to have a Prayer Club coordinator who takes the time to give us two options.
