JAI MA "<<< Hi Eric, I'm starting on the 29th because it's Amavasya..conjunction of sun and moon...end of the waning phase and beginning of waxing phase.. Most of the priests at the Temple I go to are South INdian or Tamil...so Amavasya is considered a very "auspicious" time to begin things...especially worship of Surya...Since it also falls on a Sunday, it seems perfect. Some parts of India believe otherwise...that one should do NO practice on Amavasya! (since it's the "dark night") auspicious/inauspicious....lol! That's just why Swamiji's advice about these things is so "spot on"...practice with Devotion and don't spend all your time gathering the paraphenalia and waiting for the "auspicious moment" to begin....However, I have to admit, I need a reminder of that every once in a while! best, sadhvi
Guest guest
OM NAMAH SIVAYA thanks for this info. i always had a hard time understanding the moon phases, their names, etc. i don't know it just doesn't bring back any memories. so i decided to start my sankalpa yesterday. as i figure She is wounded and hurting. if i was wounded i wouldn't wait for the right day, time etc. to treat my wound i would attend to it immediately. and Her wounds really are my wounds, right?
