Guest guest
Namaste Beloved Family, Linda had asked about Navarathri - Linda, my understanding is that "nava" means Nine and "rathri" is "night" -- Navarathri are 9 days of worship of the Divine Mother. These sets of 9 days are celebrated four times a year -- In Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer. The Fall Celebration comes before Deepavalli and is celebrated all over India and the world by the children of Mother Divine with great fan fare! Now, we are all so blessed to know about the Winter Navarathri which began last sunday. Today we are on the FOURTH day....so we still have FIVE more days left - to celebrate, love and adore Divine Mother, in all Her beautiful forms with all Her celestial names. :-) So, why not make a little sankalpa to pray to HER in these coming days? It can be something that takes only a few minutes - a mala of Her name "Om Hrim Shrim Dum Durgayai Namaha" or we could make a sankalpa to say the 32 names of Durga (at the back of the Chandi book) a certain number of times everyday -- or 108 malas by the end of this navarathri. Or make a sankalpa to say any of the mantras She Loves (like Sidha Kunjika Stotram or Highest Meaning of the Goddess) a certain number of times by the end of this Navarathri. Of course, its really, really fun to please Her by chanting the Chandi or Devi Gita too!!! The options are as infinite as Her love for us and our love for Her!!! What do you think? Please make a little (or big) sankalpa and share with all of us what you plan. Mother is so kind - that She has arranged the Navarathri to go through this weekend - so we will have more time to pray to Her! Why should we pray to Divine Mother during Navarathri? I am not sure if my answer is right -- so please feel free to correct me. :-) Our ancient rishis (Seers) based on their intuitive experience, understanding of human beings and God, suggested these times as more conducive -- the phone connection to Mother Divine is clearer, so why not we make use of it? :-) When we love somebody, we can say "i love you" everyday -- But we HaVE To, Have to say it on Valentine's day, isn't it? Let's all join together in a 9-Valentine-day celebration of our Love for our Divine Mother! Please do share with the group whatever practice you will be doing for Divine Mother the next few days - let us love Her and share and inspire each other, as Her Divine little children! i am trying to chant the Chandi and i seek all your blessings to be able to do it this Navarathri. Thank you! Jai MAA! Jai Swamiji! yours lovingly, ramya :-)
