Guest guest
Dear group, This is a general question and perhaps Nanda or Parvati will be able to answer it; if not, perhaps it can be given to Swamiji. I am very curious about the specific numbers of malas recommended for each of the planets (even though it would only be through a miracle that would allow me to do so many malas). Why is the number of malas different for each planet, and why are the number so large. For example, for Surya (Sun), the number of malas is 6,000. For Chandra (Moon), the number is 15,000. For Mangala (Mars), the number is 8,000, and so on. I was so grateful to the person who said she was saying 3 malas, because I know my body, and if I attempted this, after a bit, my body would just decide, "too much; I'm taking you out of the game." This is quite literally as when my body is overwhelmed (or my mind or my feelings), I may dissociate. My Self literally removes from my body, and my body most often just falls over, so it's good Swamiji said it was okay for me to do my chanting and recitation reclining in bed. Is there some special aspect to the specific number of malas? And why, if you are doing the recitation at the Fire, do you say less? Thanks to whomever can answer these questions. Guest guest
The mantra rhythm is the frequency of the carrier signal from Goddess to you. Its low frequency corresponds to the the unity point, the place where all energy manifests. The frequency of your vocal oscillations is the sound of OM and the infinite consciousness that is the universe. Its the highest frequency we can make with our voice and is literally in the same frequency range of the hum of the machinery of the mechanisms of the universe. This sound amplifies the unity point energy and gives it activity and conscious direction. The vowels of the Mantra are the high order message we wish to transform the energy into. The consonants are the low order message. You can think of the vowels as the verb and the consonants as the noun. Vowels give action, consonants say where the action is to occur. Each consonant is designed to activate an energy center in the body, the mind, the solar system and the universe. The pause at the end of the exhale is the moment we touch unity. The inhale is the entrance of energy into your individual consciousness, it is the moment after we still the mind to touch the intuitive, to see the unity point to ask for the energy. During the inhale we accept Her love into us. The exhale, accompanied by the mantram, is our conscious direction of the energy to various areas of our bodies and minds, distributing Her love to create peace in the three worlds. Each Mantra works on a grouping of energy centers within the body. Moving the energy around and affecting the changes that we ask for by saying the mantram. These mantram are designed by masters who know the connection between conscious energy, sound, breath, and the three worlds. Pain is the result of the energy doing exactly what its designed to: opening blocked energy centers, and thus opening us to the reality of who we really are. Any mantram you chant during this sankalpa work to bring peace to the three worlds. Please do as many out loud as you can. It may help to slow the breath down and say the mantram slowly. Or it may help to do many mantram per breath and make them go as quickly as possible. The first method brings the energy on slowly, allowing the energy centers to melt carefully. The second method hits the energy centery like a stick on a gong, causing the energy centers rigidity to oscillate at a harmonic of the mantram. The pain will be intense but subside quickly as the rigid block of the energy center shatters to the light of consciousness. The perfect analogy is removing a band aid. You can do it slowly and limit the pain to a trickle over a long period of time, or you can yank it quickly and make the pain intense, but over a short period of time. The choice is yours. The band aid must come off, right? So the pain of the energy center opening must be felt. It is necessary for your life experience. Don't resist it, just let it be. One of the most powerful realizations I made in the past is that pain itself cannot kill me. Shortly after I realized that the pain was in fact an indication of healing.
