Dear Devi's Daughter, Nanda, and all ~ I noticed the very same thing with the Chandi Path ... the part where the Divine Light is honored .... "om agnir jyotir jyotir agnih svaha I suryo jyotir jyotih suryah svaha I Where the book says suryo and suryah, Maa says "surjo" and "surjah," but the j sound is very subtle, almost like a jh put together. I attributed this to Her dialect. Even the Durga mantra I have trouble saying it without copying the way Maa says it. From Om Hrim Srim Dum Durgayai Nama to Om Hrim Srim Dum Durgouwee Namah (that is the closest I can come to phonetically representing the say Maa says it). Does it really matter ... Nanda, Parvati ... if we say Durgayai or Durgouwee? I will be interested to know the answer. Blessings ~ Linda ... and Swami is coming out with his latest book and cd collection on "Learning Sanskrit for Dummies" when?
