"When I first got the Shiva Puja Beginner, I was so intimidated. It

seemed so long. I thought I would never be able to do it. When I

pulled it out today, I felt a great sense of enthusiasm and joy. The

picture on the front cover thrilled me, and when I scanned through

the book, I loved what I was reading. Now, this one who is still a

beginner feels no hesitation. I can do the puja. This may seem a

small thing to some, but for me it is huge...not just the belief that

I can do it, but the enthusiasm and desire I have to do it. Shiva Ki

Jai "

Thank you Linda for sharing your enthusiasm and pure desire to worship Shiva with the group.

On the 25th of Feb, each person according to his/her capability can do one or more of the following

1) Beginner Shiva Puja atleast once (more if you are doing according

to the 4 times of worship on Shivaratri night - 6 pm,9 pm, midnight

and 3 am )

2)Advanced Shiva Puja atleast once or more

3)Chant the Shiva Sahasranam atleast once or more

4) Chant the Rudri atleast once or more

5) Offer atleast water/milk/yoghurt/ghee/honey/sugar to your Shiva Lingam/picture

6) Chant one mala or more of "Om Namah Shivaya"

7) Chant one or more malas of the Maha mrityunjaya mantra (you can do

it as a part of the prayer club too)

It would be great if everyone could share what they plan to do to make

Shiva's night a wonderful devotional experience.

Namaste!

We are going to Rudra Homa at our Temple in the morning. The remainder of

the time we are planning on Shivaratri at our home.

Jai Sri Mahadev!

Dear All,

Hope that everyone had/has a happy Shivaratri.

I offered the following at 4.00 a.m. to coincide with the Devi

Mandir's midnight puja -

Shiva Sahasranam

Beginner Shiva Puja

Siva Samkalpa strotram

10 malas of 'Om Namah Sivaya'

Chapter 5 of the Rudri

Thanks to all for this wonderful opportunity.

"May the Reliever of Sufferings with matted hair, who destroys the

pride of heroes, bestow upons us such resolution of thought as to

nourish the entire universe with its villages of two footed and four

footed beings.

May that Rudra, Reliver of Sufferings, and Siva, the Divine Mother

as Infinite Consciousness, who embody the universe, heal us from all

maladies and bestow upon us a delightful life."

(Rudri chap.5 vs 143 and 144)

Om Namah Sivaya.
