Dear Nanda ~ my observance is very simple. This morning, I put my favorite Shiva Bhajan Tape on and sang along with it. One of my very favorite Shiva bhajans starts off like this: Om Shiva Om Shiva Para et para Shiva Om kara Shiva tanna (or tavva) shadanam When I saw Shree Maa and Swamiji at the Isaquaa, WA, retreat, the words to this song were passed out. (I'm pretty sure I haven't gotten them right.) I lost my copy, so if anyone has the words to this bhajan I would so love to have them so I can sing along correctly. Recently I lit my tealight which sits at the midpoint between my picture of Swamiji, my Shiva Nataraj statuette, and my picture of Shree Maa. I lit incense and waved it before all the images, and am, right now enjoying the peace I feel. It's a though I am in their presence. Tonight I will do the Shiva Beginner Puja, and if I can manage it at least one mala of Om Namah Shivaya. This is very simple, I know, yet it is the most I have done in one day so far. I dearly love Shiva, and I feel very privileged to be participating in Shivaratri even in my limited way. Blessings and thanks to all my brothers and sisters.
