Dear Lall ~ I think someone on the digest already wrote to you about this, but I will add again, to add another voice to the recommendation that was made. The Chandi Path, a book which is available on Shree Maa's website at the bookstore, is not only a story of the great battle of Ma Durga over the Army of Negative Thoughts, the book is also a system of worship. The entire book can be recited as a puja offering to Ma Durga, as well as to Kali, Saraswati and Laksmi, all the Goddesses who helped Ma Durga restore the balance of the celestial realms. Here is the link to the bookstore page: http://www.shreemaa.org/bookstore.htm Chandi Path is the first book on the page. If you go to the CD page: http://www.shreemaa.org/audio.htm ... towards the bottom of the page you will find that you can order both the book and an Mp3 CD, which I am assuming takes the place of the cassette tapes of Maa and Swamiji chanting the Chandi Path. This is wonderful. I have an old version of the text, and the cassettes are a bit difficult to use, so I am very happy that Shree Maa and Swami are keeping up with the times and making this available to us in a new way. If you get both at the same time, there is a savings of the amount they cost. If you go to our Page, and go to the "Files" section, you will find a folder entitled Chandi. This folder has all the files related to the class held last year for the digest members to become more familiar with the Chandi Path and how to work with it. But, in the final analysis, the Chandi Path, as I mentioned above, is worship, and you can add additional basic elements of a puja, such as flower petals, sandlewood, etc., to enrich your worship of Ma Durga even more. (Please note: these items are mentioned within the text of the Chandi, so you might want to just read it through once and make a note of the items mentioned. Swamiji always applauds efficiency, and efficiency in performing a puja is knowing what items you need for the puja and having them ready and at your altar or your side as you do the puja.) The Chandi Path is what you are looking for. If it seems too daunting (although I don't think, from reading your emails, that you would feel daunted by anything that would help you worship Ma Durga) you can instead start with the booklet, "Durga Puja Beginner," and the accompanying cd, "Durga Puja Beginner." Again, these are found on the bookstore and cd areas of Shree Maa's website. In the meantime, you can start right away. Use the Durga mantra: Om Hrim Shrim Dum Durgayai Namaha (If I have mixed up any of the bijas, someone please let Lall know.) You can offer one of more malas of this wonderful mantra, and if you have a picture of Ma Durga, you can offer her flowers (put some fresh flowers in a vase). I have often done this with wild flowers. If you don't have a picture of Durga, go to our Page: / then go to the Photos section. The very first photo "book" is pictures of Durga. Click on the book, and it will bring up all the wonderful pictures of Durga. Click on a picture you feel drawn to, and that will bring up a larger copy of the picture. Then you can just print it out and put it on your altar. There are some beautiful inspiring images you could choose. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Ma Durga Ki Jai Don't wait ... you can start anytime. Jai Maa , Jai Swamiji, our Beloved Guru~ Linda
