Guest guest
Namaste Beloved Family, Today is 13th night of Lunar Bright Fortnight in Falgun month -- on poornima (full moon) we celebrate Holi. Please check your local calender for the day of this celebration. On full moon nights, it is really beautiful to chant Lord Vishnu's Divine names and read Satya Narayana Story. These are Swamiji's book - 1000 names of Vishnu and SatyaNarayana Story. Satya means Truth and Narayana is a name for Lord Vishnu. As we read the story of SatyaNarayana, we make a vow of truth. When we do the "story" every month - at every full moon - we have a chance to renew our vow - again and again and again. One time, it was a full moon night and Swamiji chanted the Satya Narayana story with some people. It says in the katha (story) that "truth" is a high austerity and in Kali Yuga it is the way to God. Someone asked a question (something like this) - In the Chandi, it says that inconceivable are the austerities to be performed to reach God and you are saying we can get there just by being true - is that not a contradiction? What do you think? Is it a contradiction? --- This is question # 1 Can you also say where in the Chandi it says that inconceivable are the austerities to be performed to reach God -- which chapter, verse and what it means to you. -- This is question # 2. Hope you will all take a minute to answer the questions! :-) we await your thoughts! :-) Jai MAA! Jai Swamiji! Om Kleem Vishnave Namaha! Guest guest
Namaste dear family, as I see it, there is no contradiction: being true IS an inconceivable austerity, not only because it is so difficult to give up our attachment to the confortable lies we tell ourselves, but also because there is no end to the process that we can conceive of. The verse in the Chandi can be found in Chapter Four, verse 9. with love, Henny , "n_ramya108" <n_ramya108 wrote: > > Namaste Beloved Family, > > Today is 13th night of Lunar Bright Fortnight in Falgun month -- on poornima (full moon) > we celebrate Holi. Look at the God-man RamaKrishna, if he said he was going to the outfield and was stopped on the way for any reason, when he was through he would go to the outfield even if the reason for going no longer existed because not to go would have been untruthful. We do not see this great being in daily sadhana yet he was consumed by the Divine, he spoke truth always. There are many paths, but the goal is always the same. It is the sincerity (truthfulness) of the act that takes us there. Truth Om Vishnu Kalia
Guest guest
Hari Bol!!! Holi Hai!!! Namaste everybody, Thanks so much Surya, Henny, Kala Chandra (your english is beautiful!) and Kalia for your very sweet and thoughtful answers. Thanks so much Kalia for the very wonderful story from Thakur Ramakrishna. Maa tells that same story too! Henny - thanks soooo much for finding the exact verse in the Chandi. Chapter 4 Verse 9 says "ya mukti heturavi cintya mahavratea tvam abhyasyase suniyatendriya tattva saraih | moksarthibhir munibhirasta samasta dosair vidyasi sa bhagavati prama hi devi ||" Oh Goddess, for those who seek realization, the inculcation of absolute freedom, inconceivable are the great austerities to be performed to be devoid of all defects, having the senses subdued, complying with the essence of the principles of Truth. Oh Supreme Empress, the wise who practice yearning for liberation, htat, Ultimate Knowledge of Realization is You." As you all said, living in TRUTH is a greatest austerity in Kali Yuga. My prayers to the Supreme Empress of all Hearts to ever dwell in our hearts as Truth, as beauty and as love. Jai MAA! Jai Swamiji! Thank you for your participation! Happy Holi! Happy Holi! Happy Holi! May the Light of Truth live with us and we in that light always!
