The Devi Gita tells the story of how the Divine Goddess became

manifest on the 9th Day of Caitra.

A great asura by the name of Taraka, The Illuminator of Duality, had

taken over the three worlds. He had won the boon that he could only

be killed by the son of Shiva. Now all the Gods were dejected as at

that time Lord Shiva had neither a wife nor a son. They went to

Lord Vishnu who advised them to worship the Goddess.

In Verses 21-25 of Chapter 3 of the Devi Gita.......

The Gods engaged in performing the Homa and sacrificial offerings to

the sacred fire...

some began to observe various vows of worship...

some engaged in one-pointed meditation ...

some recited hymns ...

some performed inner sacrifice and ....

some continually established the energies of the Goddess within.

Then on the 9th lunar day of Caitra the Divine Goddess became

manifest. Verses 27-41 describe Her radiating light like ten million

suns and again like the coolness of ten million moons. So dear

family let us all worship with pure devotion so that we too can have

Her Grace.

We are so blessed to have this wonderful translation by Swamiji and

the good fortune that He continues to teach and inspire us. Devi

Gita is available at http://www.shreemaa.org/bookstore.htm

Jai Maa, beloved Rukmani ji!!!!! :<) Blessed we are!!!! These

translations of our dear Swamiji is a healing salve to the soul.

These delicate, sweet morsels are more fragrant than a thousand night-

blooming jasmine bushes. i crave them like one thirsting in the

hottest desert, for they quench the spritual thirst and feed our

Souls with pure nourishment. i bow to Anna Purna who feeds us with

Her own Divine Energy.

Jai Chandi Shree Maa! Jai Shiva Swamiji! Jai Thakur Ramakrishna Deva!

your sister dissolving in the ocean of Maa's Love,

muktimaa
