Guest guest
"Devotion" always implies there is a dual mind. It just means an continued attention to the other. The more obsessive the attention gets the easier it is to ignore the body. Most acts of emotional or physical violence or abusive acts are a result of a devotion to or obsession towards anti-social or imature ideas. So, whenever we talk of devotion the "GOAL" is the most important criteria and to have clear and worthwhile goal we need Knowledge or Jnana. If we lack it we should seek a Guru or Teacher who will help us to formulate a goal that is worthwhile. So the best kind of devotion is a devotion or obsession towards finding out the best goal there is and surrendering everything else towards achieving it. P.S Have you noticed that devotion is an emotion arises in the dual mind and compassion is an emotion arises from "one" mind. Jai Sri Ramakrishna! Guest guest
Devotion is giving without expectation of the results or anything in return. It is giving more than we take. It is the precious jewel that I am striving for in all that I do, say or think. Jai Maa! Guest guest
Devotion is a corridor down which to travel. It takes us into the heart of all beings. Devotion gets things done most efficaciously. Devotion resolves. Devotion is a precious jewel which each of us is to find within ourselves. If we do that, we also find it within all other selves. When that happens our whole universe become a very strong treasure. , "n_ramya108" <n_ramya108 wrote: > > Namaste Everybody, > > Every time we chant the Chandi as a group, in chapter 13 when Goddess appears Swamiji > asks for the boon of "pure devotion". Guest guest
Mother, Devotion is a caring or contemplation so strong that the conflict between "me" and "the world" dissolves. Guest guest
i already posted an answer but should add. 1 is, thinking about Maa's question is pulling me into devotion. 2 is, devotion includes simple things, like showing up. 3 is, devotion is seeing where i am not devoted and fixing it, without that child deprecation. steve
Guest guest
Om! Devotion is the frustration and the painful constriction in the heart that you cannot see Her. You just want Her to sit next to you and hold your hand. Dear Mother, are you a fraud? Just like me? Well, if You are not, please do come. I am waiting. with love and prayers srini , "Mahamuni" <mahamuni wrote: > > Devotion is giving without expectation of the results or anything in return. It is giving more than we take. Guest guest
Devotion is that expression of consciousness when all attention is upon the beloved. OM Shanti Morningsong
Guest guest
Devotion is, as Ramakrishna Parahamsa says, obsession, according to my experience. Obsession about a beloved, a country, or perhaps a form of God. Or a concept such as our origin or what happens after death. Romantic obsession is probably the most powerful. A devotee experiences all the characteristics of life in duality such as fear and insecurity (will my beloved reject me?), possesiveness (I want my beloved to be my own), anger (at the beloved for rejection), selfishness (caring about oneself and the beloved to the exclusion of worldly affairs), etc. Since these are directed only towards the beloved, a devotee may be indifferent to bodily comforts, money, others opinions or even death, leading an observer to think that the devotee has transcended all these worldly emotions and needs. But devotion gives an incredible high and ability to withstand all hurdles except the ones where the beloved is concerned, and it is addictive.
