Guest guest
Dear all, reading The Nectar of Eternal Bliss again, I came across this passage which I would like to share with you all, because it seems to be relevant both to the matter of cooking and blessing food, and also to the issue of tolerance for other people's spiritual inclinations: (Ramakrishna to M.): "You were talking about worshiping an image made of clay? Even though it is made of clay, worship is appropriate. God has created various forms of worship. He has created this entire universe and provided various practices by which people can attain knowledge. Whatever path an individual takes, is the most suitable one for that individual. The Divine Mother has arranged different paths for different individuals. Look, a mother had five children. She brought home a fish to eat. She began to cook it in different ways. For one individual she made fish pulao. For another she made fish soup. For someone else she made baked fish with vegetables. Another got fried fish. Each one liked the fish they got, just to their taste, to their satisfaction. Do you understand?" I bow again and again to that Divine Mother, gathering us into Her kitchen and feeding each of us exactly what is the most nourishing and beneficial to our individual stage of growth and so tasty at the same time, with love, henny

Namaste Henny The following is from the book Loving Ganesa put together by Sivaya Subramuniyaswami ( Gurdeva ) . This is from Swamiji, speaking about an image of the God. THE PROPER ATTITUDE Making an image of the God must be done in the right spirit. Swami Satyananda Saraswati of Devi Mandir in California contributed the following instruction. "Take all of the love in your heart, all the longing to see God face to face, the totality of your aspiration for Self Realization, mix it with straw and earth and watch as the devine image takes shape within your very proximity."
