Here is a little excerpt from one of the newest books about the life and teachings of Sri Sri Sarada Devi, Holy Mother: "In 1917, three years before Mother's passing away, I went to Jayrambati for her birthday celebrations... I asked her, "Mother, how do I realize God?" I was thinking within myself that Mother would prescribe austerities and practice. But she replied, "We can realize God only through His grace." At this, I questioned her, "Only through this? Nothing else?" Mother replied, "No." Again I questioned, "Not by any means?" Mother replied, "No." Again, I questioned her for the third time, "What? Nothing else?" Mother said, "No!" This was my last question to her." Mother: "Yes, that's true. But the point is this: the house may have all kinds of food stuff for cooking, but one must cook them and take his meal. He who cooks earlier gets his meal earlier too. Some eat in the morning, some in the evening, and there are yet others who starve because they are lazy and reluctant to cook."
