Guest guest
Last night we sang a bit of the Sundar Kanda and afterwards a question was asked. What is the difference between tears of worldly attachments and tears of devotion. Swamiji says this: Tears of devotion are those we shed when we realize the priviledge of sitting in front of Her to offer our love and to serve Her in whatever way She sees fit. Tears of worldly attachments are those we shed when She doesn't come to us at our convenience...when She isn't ours personally to put in our pockets and own. (In the Chandi, in Chapter 5, Shumbhah -- Self Conceit -- sends his embassador ro the Goddess and says, "You come and serve me and my extremely valiant brother, Self Deprecation, because you are the very essence of jewels." ) If we allow the Great Ego to have his way, there is no end to his need of service...he can never be satisfied. When we realize the privilege of serving Her, there is no end to the satisfaction! We all shed tears so it is important to shed the right ones! Jai Jai Jai Jai Jai Maa!
