Guest guest
Third Offering of Experiences at the Devi Mandir: I was told to arrive "first thing Saturday morning". My mind goes, what is "first thing?", "should I know?", "should I ask?", and "what about sleep?"…I had been told at some point that Shree Maa and Swamiji start their separate pujas around 3-4:30am and that there is devotion in the Temple around the clock right now. I was arriving in California at 3am my-time after many weeks of little sleep. I did not write to ask, I knew, I would arrive at the Devi Mandir at 8am and that is what I communicated and did. The gate was closed but left unlocked for me. I said my thanks, closed the gate back, parked and gather myself for a hike up the hill with my bag, deposited this and quietly went into the Temple where Swamiji and several devotees were still engaged in their morning puja. Each was at his or her own chosen alter, doing his or her own chosen puja. Swamiji was alone at the Haven Kund. Sanctity is the word that comes to my heart as I try to describe. I assumed my asana and proceeded with my japa and meditation. I will insert here that my head has not stopped vibrating since that morning. It is like wearing a hat with an electric current running through it. I quickly moved into my own meditation. I was still aware of Sanskrit chanting coming from all parts of the temple. No one was loud or distracting. All were supremely focused and supremely devoted. Sadhana comes first at the Devi Mandir. I was aware when Swamiji was finishing and walking out. Somehow I knew to stay focused on MY sadhana not on rushing to meet or talk with him. That is the example. The example is what I want to follow. Guest guest
Jai Sadhu Maa, I know waht you mean. It is very tempting to quit what you are doing and run up to Maa or Swamiji. I was talking to a friend about this just today. She was speaking of the urge with her Guru. But, truthfully, when you do show respect and restraint, you seem to receive double the bhava.
