Guest guest
Dear Swamiji ~ I have a question I have been wanting to ask, and your wonderful response to Gobinder's question brought it to the fore of my mind. In the Chandi, each section, except the first, so far as I can tell by a quick look, begins with the Seer, the Meter and the Deity or Deities that are associated with that section. Here is the part of your response to Gobinder's post that reminded me. 3.Durga DvatrimshannamamalaSwamiji's response:The 32 names of Durga really have more significance to me because oftheir poetry, their tones, their complete adherence to the principles ofanushtup chanda, how each name is perfectly aligned with the meter, thenbecause of specific meanings. What I would like to know is how can I understand the various meters and how they are recited? At one point, when I was listening to the Chandi Path tapes, while reading the text, I thought I would musically notate the cadences, but for someone like me, this seems a rather daunting task. I'm sure the best way to understand the differences is to listen to them, but I have not been able to make much of a disctinction between different sections when I listen to them. Perhaps there is some way to help with my understanding of this. Sincere thanks for your time and energy. Jai Swamiji ~ Linda
