It can be made of clay or, more usually, metal with water or rice in it. It is usually wrapped with string in a diamond pattern that represents the nadis of the deity. 5 specific kinds of leaves are placed in its mouth and a bowl of rice (representing wealth or powers), flowers and a coconut (representing the consciousnes of the Deity) on the top.Symbolically, it stands for Devi, mother goddess or Laksmi in particular Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
