Guest guest
Jan-- Thanks for your terrific poem. I enjoyed it. But for me, everything is real and nothing is an illusion--this is not an axiom, my friend,, not a suggestion or philosophy, it is the light of my Enlightenment. Joy to you in your path! Joy to you in your path! > > Madhya If everything is real, what about past, present and future? A bit more serious, an illusion is: 1. a. An erroneous perception of reality. b. An erroneous concept or belief. 2. The condition of being deceived by a false perception or belief. Taking 1a, the white light from the tube consists of only red, green and blue. What we see isn't real, but we take the impression to be real. A crystal seems to be solid before our eyes. But an X-ray diffraction pattern reveals it is a lattice. Viewed on an atomic scale, the crystal is almost empty space. Taking 2. Long ago, being subjected to illegal interrogation, the injected chemicals didn't cause betrayal of friends and a bigger dose would have been lethal. So the interrogator produced photos, suggesting death and injury of relatives due to a traffic accident. Visiting the dying was only possible when betraying friends. The suffering it caused was real. Then, despite of the injection, I discovered the photos were faked and suffering suddenly was unreal. What seems to be real one moment, isn't real the next. So I take no-thing to be real - not in the sense of not existing but not revealing its true nature by an act of sense perception.
