it was, in this death and desert

that i recognized

that the lone steps in the sand

where not you carrying me

but rather, me carrying you

 

when i put you down

you disolved into the sand and wind

you were never there

and these steps were always

my own

 

somewhere, i had lost my guide

so i became my guide

and this lead me back to you

then, i choose for you

that i would guide

if you would carry me

 

and you agreed as if

i gave you the choice

 

it was, in this death and desert

that you recognized

that the lone steps in the sand

where not me carrying you

but rather, you carrying me

 

if and when you put me down

i will disolve into the sand and wind

i was never there

and these steps were always

your own

 

never forget that

although these steps

are yours

they too have seen my feet

 

meet me at the oasis
