I give the words of my Shri Gurudev Nityananda: "One must live in the world like common men. Once established in infinite consciousness, one becomes silent and, knowing all, goes about as if knowing nothing. Although he may be doing many things in several places, he outwardly appears as if he is simply a witness of life--like a spectator at the cinema. he is unaffected by events, whether pleasant or unpleasant. The ability to forget everthing and remain detached is the highest state possible." ---Bhagawan Nityananda There is no higher goal than this my friend. Any sentient being who is quick to condemn and full of words speaks only matti (useless, dust; of no consequence). His heart is the heart of a fool. You said it very succinctly; "nobody can >save their sould but themSelves. The Self within, Divine Grace will apoint the moment of shaktipat. Rejoice that >this one is this far. And remember, love everything you see and hear, think and do; love all with equanimity; this >is the body of Shiva--we all of us have personal friends, but they are no more or less Divine Chiti than the pesky >neighbor next door. Your friend is Divine Chiti as well; take no pity on him. The whole issue will resolve of its >own accord. Trust in this. P.S... the guy I referred to is actually not a friend of mine in the conventional sense, in fact he has mercilessly "insulted me" on usenet as "defending the evil dualistic way of life" and accused me of being a "spiritual pretender" or something like that. It is precisely the love you mention that drives me to wish for His liberation. I know that all souls will reach it, and I do not experience so much a feeling of pity as a fervent wish; more comparable to the feeling of a father for his son when he sees he is using heroin, a deep wish based on love that he would just open his eyes for one moment. But your words reassure me (especially the reminder to rejoice that He is as far as He is), and I offer my thanks. Guest guest
Dear Marcus, Thank you for these words. To be honest, I feel as much or more concern for those that this person (who claims "extraordinary spiritual insight" of a nondual nature) has wronged with his words and deeds than for the person himself. Certainly, in the Ultimate sense no wrong can take place. But these people don't understand that, and live solely in maya. For those living only in maya, suffering is very real. I do believe that detachment is the highest state. But this is a case of EMPATHY, not pity. I find that I'm unable to help having concern for the blind, the maimed, the injured. Detachment may be better, but to see a blind man unintentionally mistake gasoline for water and injure himself and many people is a painful thing to watch. I do not deny this pain, or push it away. It is there. I simply observe it, along with the wish to do something about it, not allowing it to turn into suffering. There is nothing that can be done. Guest guest
Tim, Your in good company friend. I was born an Empath; a very different kind of road with it's own peculiarities distinct from the common issues surrounding the maintstream seeker. Keep on keeping on!
