Hi Everyone,

There was an ongoing discussion of U.G. Krishnamurti on another list

recently, so I would like to offer my comments here. Perhaps someone could

repost this to the NondualitySalon list, as Jerry no longer wants me there.

For those who have not read his works, you can do so at

http://www.well.com/user/jct/index.html.

After reading many of his works, including his biography at the link above,

I meditated long last night on the sayings of U.G., and came to the

conclusion that something unusual indeed happened to him, but it had

nothing at all to do with moksha or with nirvikalpa samadhi. This man is

operating on the level of the limbic system, or reptilian brain. Truly, in

a way it seems he's devolved into a type of reptile (he has been compared

to a cobra). His claims that his physical body died and then revived again

are absurd, although I will admit the remote possibility. If such a thing

happened, then when the body revived, it no longer contained a soul, and

U.G. Krishnamurti is the only true zombie currently walking the Earth.

Perhaps his body simply survives on the reflections of Atman in other

bodies and other things. He claims that periodically his body "dies"

physically and revives again.

Whatever it is, this man is either a complete fraud (doubtful) or is no

longer human. He seems to act as an addictive drug to people, and people

who meet him cannot stay away, cannot help themselves, tend to form a

powerful *attachment* to this man which is destructive to their own

spiritual growth.

U.G. says "I have nothing to offer mankind." Such a statement should be

taken at face value, and there is no reason to bother reading a single word

of his (although his biography is interesting). To meet such a creature in

person could endanger spiritual growth, IMO.

Tim

Hi Tim,

What happened to not judging?

Hmm... there's a fine line between judging someone and making an

observation based on opinion. I was only reporting on what my impressions

were of the people below, not making absolute judgements like I'm the final

authority on the matter. At least, I think I was. Maybe I crossed the line.

With Love,

Tim

I don't know, Tim. I've been thinking. It's easy not to judge at all if

you can live a holy life apart from the world... a life of constant

meditation and bliss... But for those of us who live in the world, it's

necessary to make some judgements.

We do it all the time. Which lawyer to go to? Who can be trusted? How to

explain to your children that not all grownups are nice people, and you

just don't take candy from other people or get in a car with other people

besides your parents? People knock on your door and want to come in...

but you don't let them all in... you have to make a judgment...

I'd like to see some discussion on judging people when you're living in the

world. Are there any criteria or guidelines? Is there a line we don't

want to cross?

Love,

Dharma
