Guest guest
Dear Melody, At 08:38 AM 3/29/99 -0600, you wrote: >Gloria, if it is all up to the individual to >be in witness, and nothing is as it appears, how >then can these 2 guys seemingly have any 'power' >to 'dim the light' for us? The light that you perceive within this group is actually coming from Yourself, from Self. In Truth, there are no "others," nor is there any *external* light source. All love and light is the reflected glow of Atman. Thus, if there is a "dimming" sensation as you (or anyone else) reads a message, such a dimming is happening within your own heart, as a result of "allowing" the offending message(s) to do so. A simple detachment from negativity would stop the dimming effect... that's why many teachers place such a strong emphasis on detachment and dispassion. Why allow the words of others to dim the light shining within your own Heart? If you encounter a poisonous fruit, do you bite into it? One cannot hide in a cave, either dark or well-lighted... do you feel the same "dimming" as you walk down the street and see a gang member, or hear about the Kosovo situation? The "negatives" of life cannot be escaped. Everything positive (and negative) comes from within.
