Guest guest
Hi Rachel, Just my opinion - Look into Hinduism and read as many of the scriptures as possible, learn as much as possible about it. Then say to yourself, "I now follow Hinduism" and you are converted :-) With Love, Tim At 04:56 PM 3/29/99 -0800, you wrote: >rachel <fun_lovin_canuk > > >hello list. how does one convert to hinduism? i have >read a lot on things like the sacred rice ceremony and >such, but i am 16 and, from what i have read, too >old.please, anything you can send my way will be >greatly appreciated. >thanks ----- The CORE of Reality awaits you at: http://start.at/the.core Poetry, Writings, Live Chat on spiritual topics. This is a fellowship of gentle and spiritual people. This list is specified as suitable for people over 17 because on occasion we have had, without warning, swearing and negative language. It does not happen often but it has happened. Also I am concerned because I have heard of young people being exploited over the internet. Please take care and speak to an adult (your parents or teachers) about your interests in spirituality and they can guide you as well. The internet is not the best place for a young person without any guidance. Please be cautious and skeptical of things you hear on the internet. God bless you and protect you. Guest guest
i respect that your list is designed for people older then myself, but i assure you i would never degrate myself by doing the things you mentioned. also, living where i do, it is very hard to find anything about hinduism. even my bookstores put it in the classification of "new age" instead of religion, as it should rightfully be. and what they have is basic introductory stuff or books about how wrong it is form a christianity level. i got on this list to try to learn more about what other people think, and so far i have been very, very impressed by how knowledgable all of you seem to be, and how willing you are to share what you know. as for my parents and teachers, they have been no help. this is a predominately christian area, and my wanted to practice has been met with the idea that if it is not christianity, it is satanism and i am worshiping a false god. i appreciate very much that you were concerned about my well being even though we have never met and anything you can suggest to me about how to better my understanding of this religion in the form of actual books ( or, if push comes to shove, web sites you have found to be absolutely accurate) would be greatly appreciated. --- "Harsha (Dr. Harsh K. Rachel, I was thinking about you earlier, and had even written a letter, but didn't send it. What I was going to suggest is to go to the library and ask the librarian for the information. Tell him or her you want a good videos on Hinduism, and books. They can have materials sent from larger libraries. They get paid for helping you, and the resources will be good ones, not questionable. Best, Jerry
