Guest guest
I may be way off here but it seems the first desire is lust . "Because the whole creation of this universe is to be kept up, God has made the sexual desire very, very powerful. Otherwise, many Jivanmuktas would have cropped up quite easily, just as graduates from universities. It is easy to get university qualifications. It demands a little money, memory, intelligence and a little strain. But it is an uphill climb to obliterate the sexual impulse. He who has completely eradicated lust and is established in mental Brahmacharya is Brahman or God Himself." This is a quote from Swami Sivananda's article on Brahmacarya or celibacy. Intuition seems an awareness while imagination is more speculative? What is as opposed to what might or could be ? Om Shanti. James

It is for god/Self. In light of this knowledge there is no duality. Perhaps desire becomes 'corrupt' when one believes there is something else to desire? > > "Because the whole creation of this universe is to be kept up, God has > made the sexual desire very, very powerful. Linda: Yoga teaches that the root of lust is anger I wouldn't call anger a desire. >Perhaps there is only one desire. >It is for god/Self. >In light of this knowledge there is no duality. >Perhaps desire becomes 'corrupt' when one believes there is something else >to desire? Linda: I would agree that in the end there is only the desire for God/Self. Until one gets to the point of having that as 'the desire' there are many others. Just as our experiences are based on our samskaras our desires would be linked to them also. For one person it could be hunger, for another wealth and so on and so on.
