Feng-Shui Gardening

 

 

With what audacity

would one dare disturb

the cosmic ch'i

to alter the locality?

 

If one fails to take note

of the four gods of direction,

or sets a vertical stone sideways,

a curse on you is wrote.

 

So bend northern waters first east

then west, while keeping safe your home

on the underbelly of the dragon,

at the very least.

 

Selecting where plants are to be,

set like brushstrokes of a Zen artist,

is helped by mastering

the art of tea ceremony.

 

For this harmony, connecting all,

is not the path to anything else.

In your own garden, tended well,

the whole world has come to call.

 

Only when the mind

mirrors a calm pool of water,

can one see a few stones

and an entire landscape find.
