SHRI AVADHUTA STOTRAM

Hymn Praising the Avadhut

Salutations to Nityananda, the Guru, who rescues his disciples from

transmigration, who has assumed a body for the needs of devotees, whose nature

is consciousness and being.

Free of desires, free of expectations, free of all defects, independent and

fearless--to that Nityananda, I bow.

Free of possissiveness, free of egoism, regarding as the same a clod, a

stone, and gold, even-minded in happiness and sorrow, all-enduring--to that

avadhut, Indeed, I bow.

Indestructible is the Self, for it is one. Having known this truth, he is

free of attachment, fear, and anger--to that Nityananda, I bow.

I am not the body, nor is the body mine; I am not a bound soul, for I am

consciousness. Thus reflecting, he is content--to that avadhut, indeed, I bow.

The entire universe is only a mental construct; the Self alone is free and

eternal. Thus reflecting, he is satisfied--to that Nityananda, I bow.

His deeds burned up by the fire of realization, purged of desire and

ambition, free of the need to accept or reject--to that avadhut, indeed, I bow.

Possessing the innate disposition of a yogi, he does not long for pleasure

and enjoyment; he is content with whatever comes unsought--to that Nityananda, I

bow.

Not even by blame or praise is his mind perturbed; sporting in the Self,

great-souled--to that avadhut, indeed, I bow.

Always in the waking state, he abides like one asleep; free of anxiety, his

mind the nature of pure consciousness--to that Nityananda, I bow.

To him none is hateful, none is dear; for him there is no good or bad. Free

of the knowledge of difference--to that avadhut, indeed, I bow.

To him nothing is insentient; the whole world is filled with consciousness.

Joined with the eternal, having passed beyond the gunas--to that Nityananda, I

bow.

he indeed, by a mere glance, purifies the three worlds; he is the movable,

the immovable, and all holy places--to that avadhut, indeed, I bow.

An object of worship for all, forever perfect, an embodiment of bliss,

indivisible, shining by his own light, reveling in blissful consciousness--to

than Nityananda, I bow.

Perfect in yoga, an embodiment of austerity, full of love, being of

auspicious countenance, perfect in realization, an embodiment of grace--to that

Nityananda, I bow.

Sadgurunath Maharaj Ki Jay

Hail The True Guru*

*The true Guru is Shiva, the primary Guru. His Shakti resides in form as the

secondary guru.

All Guru's bestow the one Shaktipat. Though administered in varying degrees

depending on the recipient's ability, it is one.

Like the heat of the oven. 300 is hotter than 200, depending on the food to be

cooked. Though different in temperature, it is the one heat.

So it is with Shaktipat.
