Guest guest
Compassion ------------------- Some people confuse compassion with pity. A compassionate person feels no pity - rather, they are empathetic. When a person suffers, they feel the suffering of that person as well, because they know that all are One. Likewise, when a person feels joy, a compassionate person is joyful along with that other person. A truly compassionate person would not feel envy when somebody drives by in an expensive car; rather, they feel happiness that the other is so fortunate as to own a nice automobile, and shares their feeling of pleasure. A compassionate person is truly able to feel on a deep level. Compassion is the antidote to an exclusively detached view on life. A person who is detached without compassion may have a stark, dry and lifeless personality. Compassion and Love go together. It is impossible to truly love without a sense of compassion. Perhaps of the two, compassion is the greater, because love is often an abused concept that has nothing to do with real love. Dualistic love is love without compassion. It is usually based on another person satisfying one or more conditions. When compassion exists, love arises naturally and spontaneously from the depth of being, because what happens to others and to the world happens to us, too.
