I have taught meditation for many years, but my Kundalini has been active and overt for only a couple of years... fortunately, the circumstances of my life have allowed me to give a great deal of time to the K. work, so it has gone quickly. When I encountered these terms, they seemed to explain something to me... that I have been on a "sky path" for all these years... it's what I was teaching... in fact, I was protecting my students against active Kundalini... and it is only in the last couple of years that I have also walked this "earth path." I never knew one could work with energies at such a physical level... bring the body along, so to speak... The moderator of the Kundalini list has a grounding meditation that is designed to do both, to ground one in both directions, from below from above, through root chakra and crown chakra... which seems to combine earth path and sky path. A related question: on another list someone has asked whether Kundalini is the same thing as sexual energy. I want to say yes and then qualify... I have read various explanations and I'm still not sure how best to answer that. I'd appreciate hearing your answer. Love, Dharma
Guest guest
Hi Dharma, Yes, straight spine is vital. As we progress in our sadhana, meditation is carried with us into daily life; this awareness becomes more and more the norm in our day to day lives. Some of my most wonderful moments have not been in "meditation" in the strictest use of the word. Not too long ago, the youngest boy and I had to go to the high-school. He will be going there next year, and all of the eighth graders have a mandatory orientation. There were 3 films, each about 15 minutes long. I have to admit that I took advantage of the darkness, and enjoyed a wonderful meditative period in the midst of two hundred people. Even now, I can't pay attention in class. So yes, straight back...and were off! The surrender is an important time in sadhana. Once this is done completely, chances are a person's spiritual practice will take off like a rocket. Below is a re-print of Odic and Actinic forces. In a nutshell, actinic force is life-force odic is the magnetism that pulls people into groups Though both exist solely in God, the odic force is a ''modification'' of the actinic. But then again, so is everything; whereas the actinic is the pristine Prana Shakti, life-force. There are two forces that we become conscious of when we begin to mediate: the odic force and the actinic force. Actinic force is pure life energy emanating from the central source of life itself. Odic force is magnetism that emanates out from our physical body, attracts and merges with the magnetism of other people. The odic force is what cities are made of, homes are made of. The actinic force, flowing through the physical body, out through the cells and through the skin, eventually becomes odic force. As soon as we begin to meditate, we become conscious of these two forces and must be aware of how to deal with them. The odic forces are warm, sticky. The actinic forces are inspirational, clean, pure, true. We seek in meditation the actinic force. Mahabhakti M
