Guest guest
Ho hum. 60 or so new messages in the mailbox from satsangh alone. Re:Tim, Re:violence, Re:hi timmy:), Re:gurgitate. Honestly, I don't know whether I belong on this list either. Being without a discernible tradition, without a guru -- why don't gurus ever venture outside of California? -- and without a clue, I'm in a quandary. "Ahimsa" is not an abstract ideal to be imitated, it is an expression of insight or enlightenment. The latter word does not come easily to me any more, as it is usually mixed up with projective fantasies about the future. There is a Zen saying which I am bound to garble, because I cannot find the book at the moment. It is about "entering the stream" wherever you happen to be. That hit home today with special relevance. You can either dream about becoming something someday other than you are now, or you can enter the stream RIGHT HERE. Which means the Truth is always right in front of you and you do not see it because you are always looking sideways -- looking for others' approval, looking for the right guru, looking at the time on your watch. Believe it or not, I am past the point of wanting to stir up conflict here. But sadly, it seems that Tim G. had some important things to offer that are being lost in the shuffle. I have posted things here which were deeply important to me and they went without comment. I suppose my rough-cut untutored quasi-Zen approach is not what everyone else wants to hear. I will wait around to see just how this shit hits the fan, and then I'm probably better off giving more attention to important things like my beloved cats. .... Guest guest
Yes, cats are amazing gurus -- they teach such presence and suchness!! And they know when to get rid of those nasty inner hairballs. H.

If you write for others to respond, they won't. If you have no guru...who is it that taught the guru? I myself never get responses either, but that is the way I prefer it. I just want to be left alone...allthough the list does have some intresting drama every now and then. 8) mike

I have the same attitude as you. Sometimes I don't want a response. There is such a thing as silent appreciation. One has to keep posting, sometimes shout a little, pose a simple question. Have you noticed how Gurus basically say the same extremely meaningful things over and over again. Why? If the Guru has to say the same thing over and over again, how much more do you and I have to repeat what is meaningful to us? Hang in there.
