Guest guest
Greetings Harsha: Thank you for the timely posting. The jyotishii in me understands that this is a time of challenge and that the universal pattern of planetary placements appears to be working overtime to drive us all nuts. The human in me is struggling not to react. For me it is always good to be reminded to surrender and that this is all an illusion. On another list I read that when we perceive that we are being hurt we will react in the same way. That brought a smile of recognition as I recalled an incident this weekend. I was too long at the dentist office on Saturday and had to go back on Sunday. Both days I was in pain and had to work after the visits. I work on phones - at one point the phone rang and before I could answer it I found myself simply picking it up and throwing it across the room. This action was probably less harmful than answering it and using hurtful words towards some person. The following day the incident was mentioned to my 'ex' - I am currently using one of his cordless phones - his immediate response - "was it my phone that you threw"? Happily for him it wasn't.:-) I mention this silly little tale because for me it reinforces how subtle ahimsa can actually be - we move from understanding that 'thou shall not kill' to so many levels. Had it been my ex's phone well then rather than just giving myself a headache (thereby acting harmfully towards my own body) I would have caused him harm. Makes me aware of how mastery of ahimsa can be quite a long process. Have a good day, Linda Thanks for sharing Linda. Going to the Dentist on both Saturday and Sunday has to be tough. Going to the Dentist is a pain in the short term, but it can prevent other long term problems and maybe even more pain. My father has most of his teeth but my mother has lost all of hers. I have a friend, a professor, who just had his teeth capped. They grind down the old teeth and cap them. He was showing them off as they were bright and shiny and said he will have them his whole life and they will never go bad. Modern science is wonderful as it overcomes the limitations of genetics and of eating too many sweets. I wonder what they did a few hundred years ago. Guest guest
Dear Harsha: I wish your friend the best - I've been told that the work I'm having done should last for another 25 years or so - in which case I'll be old enough to live on applesauce and tea which will be my preference to going through this again :-). I hear that George Washington had a nice set of wooden teeth. Linda ----- . Thanks for sharing Linda. Going to the Dentist on both Saturday and Sunday has to be tough.
