Friend of mine recommended this list because I am interested in spirituality. Today is July 4 and as I think of freedom for the country, I am thinking of my own freedom and how limited it is as a human being. Can we really have any freedom at all? What are we really free to do? Who are we responsible to and why? Is anyone responsible to us? And how do we find out? Can the wise people on this list help me with this puzzling mysteries (I don't want to be overly presumptuous, in case there are no wise people. I don't want to insult anyone. Probably you are all wiser than me). I have heard a lot of positive things about meditation. Could someone here enlighten me on different ways and techniques of meditating. What can meditation do for me? Is it necessary on the spiritual path? Should not prayer suffice? Thanks for reading and I look forward to your replies.
