Hey, it's nice to know I'm not the only one that meditates in "Corpse position." To heck with sitting, I have very bad posture (minor scoliosis as well) and it's hard on the spine. I find lying down on a hard flat surface, arms and legs spread apart and neck and spine straight works the best. And because the surface is hard and flat, I don't find it conducive to causing drowsiness or drifting off to sleep. While I do much of my meditation practice in the more standard 'easy' or 1/2 lotus pose I have no problem working with standing postures either. One thing you might want to experiment with is meditating in 'yoga mudra' which starts you out in rock pose to child's pose and then to interlacing your hands behind your back and pulling the arms up as far as they can go. It is wonderful for back and shoulder problems as you can move the prana where it needs to be to regenerate the cells and release the tension. I know you spend lots of time on the computer and this really offsets it well.
