Time and the Present...

Dear Lists...

All time is contained in the present, at this exact moment. Let me explain.

First, we can imagine a future. But once that future is arrived at, it's

NOW again. We can then project further into the future. But again, once

that future time is reached, it's still NOW... ad infinitum. Can you see

the futility of the concept of the future? It's a projection, an illusion.

We never reach it.

At the same time, we cannot "dwell in the past," because the past is

nothing but the stored contents of the brain's memory. When we think of

the past, we think of it NOW, and no matter when the past is thought of,

it's still NOW at that time. Therefore, there is no past either.

There is only one eternal moment, this one. Realizing this is abiding...

abiding in Presence and Awareness (or the void from which all things arise,

depending on how you look at it), this very moment, this instant.

Just by simple logical deduction it can be seen that there is only this one

eternal, timeless NOW that is always present, always here. Abiding always

in this moment, we are outside of time, we stand free of it. We stand

always right on the threshold of the unknown. On this threshold is a crack

or a seam. Letting ourselves fall into this seam, remain within it, BE it,

we are in the Absolute (are the Absolute).

With Love,

Tim
