Guest guest
Nav: << The fact is that whether GOD exists or not is a BELIEF, not something that can be proved scientifically, or in our life time. The question I think perhaps should be asked is not whether there IS or is NOT a GOD, but whether we as a people are better off believing in God. For, if belief in GOD can cause people to do good actions (even if it is for fearing him), how could anyone argue with such a belief?? Unfortunately, belief in DIFFERENT Gods has also cause humans to kill their fellow men in the name of God! How nice it would be if we could all agree on ONE God!! >> -- Nav, God as an idea would be a belief, and that idea would vary between group and individuals. If you want to know if your idea about God or no God is correct, well it will go the way of all ideas. Only as far as its own limitations. There will never be common agreement on ideas or beliefs, because their nature is difference. If you want to know if there is a reality other than the physical and mental world most people call Reality, that is an entirely different question. My questions for you are: Is it possible there are realities that science cannot prove or disprove? Is it possible there are ways of knowing other than intellect and the senses? Is it possible for you, personally, to put aside all ideas, beliefs and assumptions for a brief moment? Would you try that as an experiment? What do you notice in yourself that is not thought, emotion or sensation? Let me know, if you wish. xan

[..] As the "I, me" is a virtual unit, beliefs and assumptions won't be put aside by it, just "controlled", overlooking that belief in no beliefs still is belief. Guest guest
One could say the field of vision widens. The former assumptions don't apply. Yet some kind of assumption is necessary to maintain any field of perception, experience, etc. Even no assumption is an assumption, related to a stance taken toward belief. Making a statement about the nature of perception with no assumption is even worse than making a statement about military intelligence.
