Guest guest
Sai Ram Brothers and Sisters, What is surrender? Many people have the impression that it is some kind of obedience only. This is not so, and false understanding. Surrender is laying the ego at The Lotus Feet of The Lord. In actual fact it is laying the ego at The Lotus of one's own Heart. For herein dwells The Lord and is The Lord. In other words true devotion and surrender is in actual fact Moksha or Realisation. Giving up the idea of being an individual. The pot is broken and the air in the pot cannot be separated from the air outside, just the pot form gave the idea of separateness. In fact the pot itself is also an illusion for it is only a form of clay. The body is the pot, the mind is the air. Where is mind now? The pot becomes clay again. There is no difference between The Lord and a True Devotee. Everytime I have tried to surrender, I have found that problems seems to diminish and a different view of the world emerges. Even if the problem is still there. When I act without surrender the heavy ego-karma creates pain and suffering. The ego-will always bring dukkha or suffering. The best solution is Nishkarma Karma, offer all to The Lord for He/She is the doer anyway. "The word surrender in English is not quite correct, it is not the right word. It does not quite explain. When you say surrender you are separate and God is separate. That is the meaning you get but God is not separate." Swami,Sai Baba, CWSSB, P 7, Compendium, p 572. Love and Sai Ram, Tony. http://members.xoom.com/aoclery/Saiwriteplus.htm === Keep on truckin-Chant the Gayatri! "God is formless. In order to merge in the formless God, you have to give up identification with the body." "There is only one Soul and that is God." Sai Baba. ___________ Bid and sell for free at http://auctions. Guest guest
Thank you for your post, Tony. I'd just been musing about how often I need to surrender my desire to understand. In fact, the more I know, the less I understand. If I understand it, therefore, I probably don't know it! And understanding is such a feeble compensation anyway because it limits imagination and possibility. My ego-mind has such a drive to take all experience and chew it up -- a sure sign that I'm NOT surrendering very gracefully. Holly
