Dear Harsha:

Thanks for sharing the poetry. Really breathtaking and profoundly clear

minded.

Having some problems with my server and the WWW connection right now...so I

am unable to check sites until I can fix the file errors.

Blessings

Love,

Harsha: Here is some of the naked beauty of Jnaneshwar's poetry. Some of it

is on Jerry's website. Source cited at the end.

When He awakes, the whole house disappears,

And nothing at all is left.

Two lutes: one note.

Two flowers: one fragrance.

Two lamps: one light.

Two lips: one word.

Two eyes: one sight.

These two: one universe.

In unity there is little to behold;

So She, the mother of abundance,

Brought forth the world as play.

He takes the role of Witness

Out of love of watching Her.

But when Her appearance is withdrawn,

The role of Witness is abandoned as well.

Through Her,

He assumes the form of the universe;

Without Her,

He is left naked.

--The book from which these excerpts are taken, is entitled "Jnaneshvar:

The Life and Works of the Celebrated Thirteenth Century Indian

Mystic-Poet," by S. Abhyayananda

Gosh Harsha I love this poem! Maybe a link to Jerry's pages with more would be

helpful?

Now one from Rumi ~

Ony he whose garment is rent by the violence of love

Is wholly pure from covetousness & sin.

Hail to Thee, O Love, sweet madness!

Thou who healest all our infirmities!

Love exalts our earthly bodies to heaven

And makes the hills to dance with joy!

The Beloved is all in all, the lover only veils Him

The Beloved is all that lives, the lover a dead thing.

When the lover feels no longer Love's quickening

He becomes like a bird who has lost i'ts wings. Alas!

How can I retain my senses about me,

When the Beloved shows not the light of His countenance?

Love desires that this secret should be revealed

For if a mirror reflects not, of what use is it?

Knowest thou why the mirror reflects not?

Because the rust has not been scoured from its face.

If it were purified from all rust & defilement,

It would not reflect the shining of the sun of God.

~RUMI~

Much Love,

Colette
