Guest guest
Jan, Jerry, Rainbo - Enjoying the conversation here between you all. The key to understanding this issue, in my view, is to look at whether the internet relations are used as a substitute for real life encounters and whether an obsessive/compulsive relationship develops with computer communication and chat. I have known of people who gradually developed depressive symptoms by trying to substitute internet chat for real-life encounters (which involve more risk, more "inconvenience", more exchange of energy, more of the senses). I'm saying this as someone who feels he has given and received in valuable ways on-line. However, I have also known of real-life relationships that grew apart as one or both partners gradually substituted on-line relationships for their partner. As with many things, moderation and balance are important - the internet is a tool, not an "answer". Love - Dan
