Dan:

Essentially I agree with you, although I think there may be an ironic

undertone to your comment (so hard to detect irony when there isn't real

life contact).

Sorry you're goin off-line, probably you'll miss this :-(

Nonetheless - there is nothing wrong with work. Work is expenditure of

energy to effect an outcome. That activity has its place in a cause and

effect

view of reality. The question here is: What is It that is not

"within" the cause and effect view? What is It from which apparent

causes and effects emanate? From the view of It - cause and effect

are one. There is "here" no means or desire to separate cause and effect,

energy and goal. If awareness if focused on doing "work" to "attain a goal"

awareness will not simply "be" - will miss the "emanating" nature of all that

is. If awareness is aware of emanation, then the whole situation changes.

It's very hard to describe - it's like a star that radiates infinite rays.

Each ray is a moment, a being, an experience. Awareness is no longer trying

to maintain continuity at the "end" of a particular ray. It is all of the

rays, and no particular ray. It then has no investment in an outcome, no

identification with how a particular "ray" (being) will "work toward an

outcome" - in fact the incredible movement of "what is" is seen such that

there is no continuity to any "individual" ray - thus no separate being or

entity "exists" to "do work" to "get somewhere." As for the

"manifestation"

of paths such as Vajrayana, Christian meditation, Qabala, Sufism,

scriptural study, prayer, art, music, football, psychologists, television

evangelists -

these all equally emanate from One and return to One - a glorious Light

it is!!
