Guest guest
Hi hi, Harshaji requested that i write up the happenings and such things around the Kalachakra initiation i went too this summer with HH Dalai Lama. Not sure where to start. Kalachakra means something like 'wheel of time' and the two deities in the middle of mandala have features about them that represent a lot of things, including the 4 seasons etc. im not an expert on these. There are a series of initiations, and they parrallel the life of a child from birth, to being named, to wearing ornaments for the first time etc. This was the first initiation i went too that had more than a roomful of folks present, there were 7000 people! I missed the first 3 days of the ceremony because i had to work, so i missed having dinner with Steven Segal and Robert Thurman, altho my vajra siblings and my root lama did . I did bump into Richard Gere.... but these things are not the heart of the matter. HH taught on the Meditation chapter of the bodhisattvacharya by Shantideva (i think its online somewhere). He also gently chided those folks who only came for the root initiation ceremony and did not come for the teachings. We got to renew/take the bodhisattva vows during the teaching weekend and a few other times, that was cool for me. more later --janpa
