Guest guest
However - it is important that one's psychologist - NOT be one's own personal spiritual teacher. Too many roles there - diana --- Diana, My experience is very different from yours. My teacher, Papaji, has lead me through and into major emotional healing, but he never acted like a therapist. No one else has ever known me and communicated with me so precisely and lovingly - from the inside. The difference is the level of consciousness of the teacher. If a teacher isn't in full Self-realization there will always be errors made and personal agendas at work. If the teacher is an expression of pure silent whole Self, miracles become the norm. love xan

A therapist - is not a teacher. And should not try to be a teacher. The roles are separate. diana

The therapist is a mirror, a person, and someone who can reflect experience of working with people. The therapist has a social role implying a degree of knowledge and authority - this role can be used in helpful ways (e.g. to normalize experiences of grief or feeling overwhelmed) or can be misused (e.g. to impose a point of view, to project, etc.). The roles of teacher or spiritual guide can be used or misused also in similar ways. There is an art to therapy, also needs to be some knowledge of what science and research offer. Similarly, there is an art to teaching and an art to life -- there also needs to be some knowledge of the world in which we navigate.
