Tony's recent post reminding me to let everyone know that we have several

very knowledgeable people on the list on Kundalini Shaki, including Jan,

Jill, Holly, Linda, and others. Several are very familiar with the

traditional literature and mantras on chakras and these would include Linda,

Janpa, and many others. The mantras and yantras for the chakras differ

depending on the tradition - but similar themes are present. Both the Hindu

bija (seed) mantras and the Jaina seed mantras traditionally were held

secret and only given through initiation but now are widely available. The

Mantra science is an exact science. I grew up reading Swami Sivananda's

books on Yoga and Meditation and he has written on virtually every aspect of

different systems of yoga, including Kundalini Yoga.. His book on mantras is

quite excellent. In general, Swami Sivananda's books have great value for

those seeking the traditional point of view. The book "Psychology of Seven

Centers" by Chitrabhanuji (my teacher) might be useful for some as well. It

is based on lectures given at the Jain Meditation Center in the 1970s,

during the time I was there. In it, he explains the psychological nature of

the chakras and gives the Jaina mantras for each center. The more complex

Shakti mantras comprising of particular combinations of individual bija

mantras are still given only to "advanced" students directly by the teacher.

Love to all

Harsha
