Attack on Sai Baba and leelas.

Namaste All,

On the K-list, as most of you probably noticed, there

was an attack on Sai Baba. He neither needs any

praise or defence. The usual claims that he molests

little boys etc. How the President and Prime Minister

of India haven't noticed this I don't know!

Anyway I personally know the 'high profile'

individuals, who are travelling around doing this,

Sweden, New York, Europe, Australia etc. There are

complicated reasons why they are doing this and I

can't mention them here.

After the battle of Lanka and the defeat of Ravana,

one of Rama's generals came up and stated how happy he

had been to serve. Rama replied 'yes, but in your

next life you will be my enemy.'

This is the concept of miracle-game or 'Leela'. One

has to bear in mind 'all is one', even in this

appearance upon The Self. It is the The Lord who

plays both the friend and foe, demon and saint, for

whatever reason, inexplicable to our minds. Sometimes

more can be done by a foe rather than a friend.

Hatred, at least, is not indifference.

In the end result it is what one learns from the Guru,

that is important. As Swami says." Don't be a devotee

of My Form, but of My Teachings".

Love and Sai Ram, Tony.

Keep on truckin-Chant the Gayatri! Breathe So----Ham!

"God is formless. In order to merge in the formless God,

you have to give up identification with the body."

"There is only one 'Soul' and 'That' is God." Sai Baba.

With all due respect,

Tony, there is no limit

on what goes unnoticed

by politicians, Indian

or otherwise. Whatever

else Sathya Sai Baba

may be, he is an

economic magnet for his

region -- and that

attracts political

support like a corpse

draws buzzards. The

moment elected officals

become credible arbiters

of spiritual

authenticity we are in

very deep yogurt indeed.

Sathya Sai Baba was highly

controversial before any

"high profile" folks took

up the allegations against

him. He has a rather

extensive organization --

to be fair, he also has

been praised for equally

extensive philanthropies

-- and there are some

troubling indications that

some of his minions aren't

nearly as high-minded as

their guru's utterances. I

have personally not taken

a position on the matter,

not having enough first-

hand evidence either way. I

feel it best to stay alert

and open-minded -- but

definitely not empty-headed.

All this is well and good,

Tony, but beyond the

modern-day equivalents of

lords and generals is the

suffering of "low-profile"

individuals attracted by

the showy performances of

some of the subcontinent's

more flamboyant "God-man"

personalities. There are

some who would include

Sathya Sai Baba among

those who seem oblivious

to the crushed hopes that

sometimes come of an

emphasis on highly

publicized "miracle"

demonstrations that tend

to encourage the desperate

in search of a "miracle."

That is very good advice,

whether or not this

particular guru lives up

to it.
