Guest guest
Namaste Jan et al, Loved your reply on veges. No I was not considering myself arrogant or more spiritual. I probably have many more faults than many meat-eaters, but the addiction of meat-eating is no longer one. On examination most of my faults seem to hurt myself the most. With my statement on not being aware why one shoudn't do something. I think you answered for me with your posting on the following karmas. Talking about 'all is one and illusion', and the 'I' etc is just intellectualising unless you are 'realised'. As Sankara said, it is real while you are in it! Punch the wall and see if it hurts, if it does, then it is real for you no matter how illusory it ultimately is. If one cannot get 'one pointedness', then how does one purify and become aware? All this is just intellectualising and riding the bicycle in circles around the velodrome. It is all in the mind-sheath, manamayakosa. As I said before I used to be a practising alcoholic and I am familiar with self-deception, especially of addicts. Meat-eating is an addiction that's all. However it causes much collateral suffering and harm. (In your own post Jan is my answer!Tony.) Jan wrote: >1.Knowledge-obscuring (Gyanavaraniya) Karma: Gyan means knowledge.Varaniya means stoppage. This karma prevents the soul from acquiring true knowledge and keeps us ignorant just as a blindfold keeps us from seeing. How can we improve our lot unless we know what we are? 4. Deluding (Mohaneeya) Karma: This karma, like too much alcohol, confuses all the human faculties and makes us forget what is right and what is wrong. It makes the souls bewildered and perplexed.< Love Tony. ===== http://members.xoom.com/aoclery/ (glossary incl?) Keep on truckin-Chant the Gayatri! Breathe So----Ham! "God is formless. None of them complained. I could not tell from examining them if any were in pain or discomfort. My guess is that they were basically unharmed by the exercise. Should I punch them harder? What kind of sounds do walls make when they are in pain? I once hit and broke a window, and I am sure it was in pane.
