Guest guest
Read this earlier and thought I would pass it on. Thanks. Harsha Sun, 12 Dec 1999 20:10:33 +0200 "Shankar" <shankar Connection between 'Saivism' & 'Self-Enquiry' According to Saivism, when the 'Serpent Energy' rises up by the 'Pressure of the Anchored Foot of Lord Nataraja', on the 'Right Eye', (a) it rises up to a height of '12 measures of the length of one phalange of a finger' above the head, and (b) one experiences 'oneself' as a part of the 'River of Om' that is Lord Shiva ('vishishtaadvaithaa'), the Impersonal 'Sound' Source of Creation. Thus, at this stage, a trace of 'individuality' still remains. Upon 'Self-Enquiry', the individuality,-that had sprung up to above the head, from the 'Heart Centre' experienced on the Right Hand Side of the Chest,-resolves itself back into the 'Heart Centre', that is 'I-I', and one becomes the 'non-dual consciousness'. Incidentally, one can understand from this that 'vishishtaadvaithaa' is a stage on the 'path' to the final 'advaithic' realisation, as confirmed by Sri Raamakrishna Paramahamsaa as well. Thus, if one is led onto the path of 'self-enquiry' from 'Saivism',-as in the case of one new member who joined this list, after being a follower of 'Kashmir Saivism' for about 20 years,- it is by the 'Grace of Lord Shiva alone and nothing else'.
